Life on Campus
|
The
11-acre ACS campus offers full residential
facilities. The beautiful nineteenth-century former
Grand Hotel, which is now the main building, unites
all the modern amenities with the charm of
gingerbread balconies and Victorian gables. It
houses the administrative offices, the bookstore,
classrooms, faculty offices, language and computer
science laboratories, art and music studios, a
darkroom, food services, recreational facilities,
and student rooms.
The ACS Dining Room, Grand Salon, and The Cave
(Student Center) are the centers of social
activities. Students gather regularly in The Cave,
where snacks and beverages can be purchased. There
are also two large-screen televisions with satellite
connections to SKY and CNN. Movies are shown
regularly and the students have access to a VCR. In
the spacious Grand Salon (The Rotunda) lectures,
concerts, student body meetings, receptions, and
graduation ceremonies are held during the year.

The main
building also holds Reading Rooms where students can
read the latest newspapers and magazines. The largest
library of English-language books in Switzerland is
housed in its own building near the Grand Hotel. The
Grand Hotel has its own train and bus stations,
connecting it to the village and the international
centers, trains, and roads down in the river Rhône
valley and on the shores of Geneva Lake (le lac Léman).

Student Services
|
The
Office of Student Affairs exists to support the
overall personal development of students while
complementing their academic program. With students
coming from over thirty different countries to
attend the American College of Switzerland, a
sharing of cultures naturally takes place on campus,
both inside and outside the classroom. The College
experience is further enriched by the services and
range of cultural, recreational, and social
activities provided through the Office of Student
Affairs under the Dean of Students. |

Career Counselling
All ACS students have
access to career counseling with Dr. Alessandro
Bianchi, who teaches MBA business courses, but he is
also available to assist students in writing an
effective curriculum vitae and in preparing
themselves for job interviews. Furthermore, Dr.
Bianchi assists the students in their search for
internships and job opportunities.
Dr. Bianchi has an
excellent background for both teaching and career
counseling. He holds a doctorate in physics from the
University of Turin in Italy, where he completed a
dissertation on computer electronics. He later
studied at the New School for Social Research in New
York and at New York University, where he completed
an MBA degree in management and marketing. He has
published a number of articles, textbooks and
manuals on management, marketing, computer
applications, public relations and other business
topics. He has years of professional experience
working for multinational corporations such as
Olivetti and companies within the Teknecomp Group.
He has also worked for international organizations,
such as UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade
and Development) in Geneva, and his wife Denise is a
permanent employee of the United Nations in Geneva.
Dr. Bianchi is now Switzerland's representative on
the European Business Council and an active member
of Executives International of Lausanne, so he has
many useful contacts in both business and
international organizations. ACS students are
fortunate to be able to benefit from Dr. Bianchi's
wide experience and contacts.
