This course will equip you with vital managerial and technical skills necessary to manage hospitality businesses. The course boasts a very high employment record for students achieving the diploma. Successful students work in domestic and international hotel companies, in leisure parks, themed restaurants and brewing and licensed house companies. A period of industrial placement provides valuable work experience which employers look on favourably. Often these placements lead to permanent employment. If you have appropriate work experience you can apply to complete a two year taught programme.

You will study a core of subjects with a choice of options. This allows you to choose topics of interest and also to relate choices to your chosen career path. The HND is closely aligned with the university's BA degree. Students with proven ability may transfer to the degree at the end of the first or third year.

This is a broad-based multi-disciplinary course designed to allow a wide choice of initial employment in any sector of the hospitality industry, and to facilitate flexibility in career development. Employment prospects are excellent. Additionally, on completion of the HND, some students successfully transfer to the final years of degree courses.
Placements & Field Trip
The supervised work placement period enables you to relate practical experience to your theoretical studies. The university will work with you to find a suitable placement whether in the UK or abroad. Students have gained placements with a range of hospitality companies including the Walt Disney Corporation, Hilton Hotels, Loews Hotels USA. You will undertake a fieldwork trip to another European country in Year 1 providing an exciting opportunity to experience new cultures and cuisines.
Admission Requirements
University normally require 100 points or pass at AVCE/GNVQ/National Diploma and GCSE Mathematics and English Language at grade C or above.
